Invitation for Internship with the Embassy of India, Dublin

The Embassy of India, Dublin invites applications for the position of voluntary internships at the Embassy. The aim of the Internship program is to provide an opportunity to young scholars to familiarize themselves with the organisation and functioning of Ministry of External Affairs and Embassy of India, Dublin and provide them with valuable hands-on experience that will complement their academic pursuits. Internship programme is neither an employment nor the assurance of any employment with the Embassy of India, Dublin.

2. Eligibility Criteria:

  1. Interested Indian citizens, OCI card holders or foreign nationals may apply for internship at the Embassy of India, Dublin.

  2. The candidate must possess a graduate degree before the commencement of internship. Students who are enrolled in a five-year course and have completed three years of the course before commencement of internship, are also eligible to apply. Preference will be given to applicants having an excellent academic track record and to research scholars.

  3. The Candidate must have good language skills in English.

3. Duration of Internship:

Internship can start at any time of the year and shall be for a maximum period of six months. The duration of internship will be decided by the Embassy of India Dublin based on functional requirements, and Embassy’s decision in this regard shall be final.

4. Support to be provided:

  1. Interns will be provided necessary logistical support and close guidance by the Embassy of India, Dublin taking into account the functional requirements.

  2. No financial remuneration will be paid to the interns.

5. Nature of Internship:

  1. An intern will be required to work on-site at the Embassy’s premises. An intern shall report to and work under close supervision of the Head of Mission/Head of respective Wing of the Embassy of India, Dublin. The intern(s) will be required to conduct research, write reports, analyse evolving developments, or carry out any other task entrusted to them by the Embassy of India, Dublin.

  2. Upon completion of the Internship, the Intern is required to submit a report in English Language.

  3. Embassy of India, Dublin will issue a certificate upon successful completion of the Internship on satisfactory completion of the internship and on submission of their Report and its evaluation.

6. Mode of Application:

Applicant may send completed application form (enclosed) with full details, by post to:

Head of Chancery, Embassy of India, 69, Merrion Road, Ballsbridge, Dublin-4 (D04 ER85); or by email to hoc[dot]dublin[at]mea[dot]gov[dot]in, with subject as “Application for the position of Intern”. The last date for receipt of duly complete applications is 23 June 2023.

7. Checklist:

The applications for internship at the Embassy of India Dublin must include the following:

  1. Duly filled in Application Form (Click here to Download).

  2. Copy of at least three documentary proofs of identity which should include copy of Passport & Aadhar Card in case of Indian nationals; and copy of passport, OCI card and National Identity Card in case of OCI card holders.

  3. Valid Irish work permit (where applicable).

  4. Curriculum Vitae.

  5. Introduction letter on official letterhead from the Head of Institution where the applicant is studying, in case he/she is a student.

  6. No objection certificate from University/Institution in case the internship is to be pursued in parallel with an ongoing course.

  7. Self-attested certificates and transcripts for all the accomplishments mentioned in Paras 8, 9 and 13 of Application Form (educational qualifications, current courses being pursued and projects undertaken).

  8. Exact time period, when the applicant wants to work as Intern at the Embassy.

8. Selection Procedure:

All applications will be scrutinised by a Selection Committee and intimation will be sent to selected candidates. The decision of the Selection Committee shall be final and binding and no queries shall be entertained after the completion of the selection process. The selection process may take up to 90 working days from the date of receipt of application for the internship.

9. Number of positions:

At any given point of time, a maximum of two interns will work with the Embassy simultaneously.

10. Termination of Internship:

The Embassy of India, Dublin reserves the right to terminate engagement of intern at any point without giving any reason, as the Embassy deems fit. The decision of the Embassy of India, Dublin shall be final in this regard. Intern can choose to leave the programme, if she/he so desires, giving prior notice of one week to the Head of Chancery, Embassy of India, Dublin.
