Note:Please note that those foreign nationals of Indian Origin who have already voluntarily acquired citizenship of any other country is not eligible to renounce their Indian citizenship u/s 8(1) of the Citizenship Act, 1955. Their Indian citizenship has already been terminated u/s 9 of Citizenship Act, 1955 by acquiring citizenship of other country. Therefore, such foreign nationals of Indian Origin who have already voluntarily acquired citizenship of any other country should only apply for surrender of their Indian passport as per details given in Point No. 2 on following link : https://www.indianembassydublin.gov.in/page/renunciationz/
Note: All the applicants applying for OCI should have surrendered his/her Voter ID and Ration Card and an undertaking to this effect must be submitted with the OCI application.
- Filling up of Online Application Form
- Application to be filled online, using the website:- https://passport.gov.in/oci/OnlineOCIRegistrationG.jsp
- The Application is in two parts; Part A and Part B
- Fill part A online along with uploading of photograph and signature/thumb impression, please ensure all information is correct and complete and then click on submit to proceed part B.
- Fill part B online and click on submit, after that please upload supporting documents. (Please note that all supporting documents as listed at No. 2 below are mandatorily required to be uploaded online prior to submission of application at the Embassy).
- A Reference No. will generate on the top right corner of application form, please note down the number. This helps you keep record, take reprint and check status online. Then save filled out part A and B.
- A print window would appear. Click ok to print out the requisite application form consisting of part A & part B. Make sure that all lines, boxes and information on the printed application form are present and legible.
- Please enter your mobile number and email id in the column for contact details at Sr. No. 29 and 30.
NB: Please note that OCI is made on the basis of entries made by an applicant in the online form. Therefore, ensure that all entries in the online, as well as printed application form are correct.

For Applications submitted in person at the counter of Embassy:
Fee can now be accepted via any major Debit Card( Visa, Master Card, Maestro, JCB, Union Pay etc.) at POS Terminal at the Embassy counter.

- Fee can now be paid via bank transfer to the Embassy's Account as per the details mentioned below. Applicants are requested to check the website and confirm the exact fees to be paid before making the payment. In case of any doubt, applicants may first contact Consular Section to confirm the exact amount of fees before paying the fees through bank transfer. Fee including the consular fee and ICWF component is to be transferred in a single transaction.
- Applicant is requested to also submit the proof of fee payment along with the application. The application will be processed only after receipt of the fee in the Embassy’s bank account. While making Bank Transfer, the applicant will mention his/her name, email/mobile no and Passport No., Name of Consular Service requested and File No. of Application form, if available (if remarks column in their bank allow).

2. Submission of Application and Documents to Embassy
Submit the following documents either at Embassy or send by post to Embassy of India, 69 Merrion Road, Ballsbridge, Dublin-4, Ireland:
- The above printed application form;
- Fee as explained above.
- Three photographs with white background (2x2 inch)
- Self-attested copies of the following supporting documents:
- In case Acquisition of Foreign Nationality
- Current Foreign Passport copy
- Indian Passport copy
- Naturalisation certificate copy issued by the INIS, Ireland. For Non-Irish, if the document is not in English, it must be translated to English and notarized.
- Certificate of Surrender of Indian Passport. Those who has not applied for surrender yet, can do so by details given in Point No. 2 on following link : https://www.indianembassydublin.gov.in/page/renunciationz/
- 6 months address proof (for Non-Irish Passport holders)- copy of utility bill.
- Undertaking regarding surrender of Voter Id and Ration card. Those who have not surrender their voter Id and Ration Card should the same in original at the Embassy.
- In case of Foreign Nationality by Birth
- Current Foreign Passport copy
- Birth Certificate copy (If the document is not in English, it must be translated to English and notarized).
- Both Parents Passports/OCI cards copy
- Copy of Marriage certificate of parents
- In case the birth certificate is issued by a foreign authority and both parents have renounced their Indian nationality and the applicant is applying on the basis of OCI cards of parents, copy of Apostille Birth Certificate is required to be submitted.
- In case of Conversion of PIO card to OCI card-
- Current Foreign Passport copy
- PIO card Copy
- In case of Foreign Spouse
- Current Passport Copy
- Apostille Marriage Certificate copy
- Spouse Indian origin proof (Indian passport/OCI card copy)
NB: Before applying to the Embassy, please check all the above documents and appropriate fee have been attached with the application.
Document submission time: Monday to Friday between 9:30am and 12.00 noon. (Except holidays)*
Processing Time: Approximately 6-7 weeks from the date of submission in Embassy if application is complete in all aspects. If application is sent via post, it will take additional 8-10 working days. There is no fixed timeline for processing OCI applications under Foreign Spouse category as processing time depends on receipt of clearances from various authorities in India.

3. Collection Procedure for OCI card:
OCI card may be collected from the Embassy, on receipt of Embassy’s intimation email. Please submit the original passports and then collect after 5 working days.
To receive the OCI card by Post, applicants are required to send the original passports (Foreign and Indian) to the Embassy along with a self-addressed registered envelope (Tamper proof envelope only).
